World Health Day





Happy World Health Day 

This year's  theme is*:

"Building a fairer, healthier world"


According to World Health Organization,

"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity"

This definition has not been amended since 1948.

Wellness is practicing healthy habits. Wellness encompasses many dimensions. Physical, Mental, Social and intellectual wellness are four corners of wellness.

Physical Wellness

Physical wellness includes Exercise, relaxation and hygiene. Cardiovascular fitness, muscle flexibility and strength, and stress relief can be achieved by physical wellness. It emphasizes balanced nutrition

Mental Wellness

Mental wellness is keeping a positive attitude, being sensitive to feelings of self and others. Mental wellness enables us to realize our abilities, cope up with the stress as well as challenges of life and engage in productive work. It influences our thinking, affects ability to cope up with stress, overcome challenges, build & maintain relationship, and bounce back from adversity.

Social Wellness

Social wellness is building and nurturing relations. Interaction with friends and family relates with emotional closeness. Healthy relationship and strong social network may result in reduction in stress. Even while socializing we keep ourselves aloof. We have different interests than others in the same group. Interacting with individuals of similar interest is always enjoyable. It has an impact on your brain and your body because of the release of chemicals like dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin.

Intellectual Wellness

Intellectual wellness is desire to learn new skills/concepts, critical thinking, seek challenges and creativity. Individuals can increase their levels of intellectual wellness by discussion, networking etc. So it is important to value curiosity, and lifelong learning.

It is necessary to promote wellness across the life span ЁЯШК . Regular physical activity improves health. We can start with simple daily routine. ЁЯСЗ

  1. Eat food that contain nutrients required by the body 
  2. Stay hydrated 
  3. Take adequate sleep
  4. Do things that you enjoy
  5. Accept your feelings
  6. Connect with your mind, body and friends
  7. Set realistic goals 
  8. Manage your stress
  9. Set challenges with intellectual and creative pursuit
